Fellow New Englanders at Dual Stage Amplification add yet another high end brand to the growing North East scene.

Meet Dual Stage Amplification, a new amp and pedal brand based in New Haven, Connecticut. Always home to a bustling music scene, I have been surprised by the relative lack of gear that came from the up and coming CT city. But Dual Stage is luckily here to change that, while also offering general music equipment repairs as well.
In the coming weeks I’ll get the chance to review and demo a few of these pedals, but before then I thought it would be fun to highlight the new brand! Dual Stage Amplification has yet to launch their own line of amps, though they are on the way. But in the meantime they’ve got a new line of guitar pedals, as well as some boutique Jazzmaster pickups, that are ready for purchase.
Even more impressive is that Dual Stage isn’t just releasing a standard overdrive clone, they’ve also included tremolo (Unlucky Trem) and phaser (Phaser V1) pedals in their initial launch alongside the Boomslang overdrive and Unobtanium 120 fuzz. Anytime a pedal company throws some modulation pedals out into the world, I’m always excited. It’s just too easy (and boring) to only release drive pedals in 2024.
Dual Stage Amplification was born out of necessity, as they relayed to me that it all started with taking apart a cheap Laney AOR Pro Tube 50 after being unable to afford a Marshall or other pricey dream amps. That experience lead to learning how to read schematics soldering practices, and eventually assembling MetroAmp kit with some failures along the way.
Years later all of those experiences and many more have culminated in the Dual Stage Amps brand, and I for one am stoked to review some gear from them in the coming weeks. I was told the goal of this brand is to make reliable tools for every echelon of artist, but more importantly, to make pedals and amps that are simple to use. No fancy buzzwords on the control panel, or exaggerated descriptors of circuitry. Just good sounds. We’ll see if that’s true! In the meantime, go check them out on Instagram.
