Guitar reviews from Fender, PRS, and more face off for the internet’s most coveted guitar title.

2023 saw a return to regular guitar reviews here on Guitars For Idiots, which was fantastic news for me. Guitar reviews are what this site has been built off of. While we’ve also done lots of pedal reviews and opinion pieces this year, I wanted to make sure there was always an interesting guitar review to punctuate the other news.
Before we dive into the rankings, I want to throw some honorable mentions out. These are guitars that weren’t reviewed, but were all over this site/my content from 2023 for various reasons.
2023 Introduced My Signature Guitar: Morifone Spada Dunn

Absolutely nuts that a low quality guitar personality like myself can have a signature guitar, but here we are. In all seriousness, this guitar is awesome, featuring two Fralin mini humbuckers, and a Fralin soapbar P90 in the bridge. It’s got a wraparound bridge, push-pull to engage neck pickup, and 6-way switch. So yeah, it’s complex, but it’s a work of art from my dear friend Ren at Morifone who you should go show some love to. Here’s the guitar in action during one of my Ultimate-Guitar pedal demos.
RWM Guitars RWDCT

This guitar is a one off that doesn’t even have an official name, though Ron from RWM often refers to it as the “Pine Tele”. It’s an ultra thin, ultra comfortable double cut Telecaster with a single P90. It’s a Fender/Gibson mashup that speaks to my soul. It’s lightweight, and has some real twang to it, perfect for punk and raw, cranked guitar tones. You’ve seen this guitar all year, as it was my official pedal demo guitar for 2023. The idea was to use the same guitar and same amps so that we could build some consistency week to week. That way, you could tell how different pedals sounded from each other, because you always knew what the guitar/amp sounded like.
Jade Works Instruments “Sketch” Guitar
This guitar started as a sketch in a notebook that was given to my buddy John at Jade Works Instruments. We had plans to build a ton of these and start a little bit of a guitar brand/identity online. Well, that was like January of 2020, so a little something to come put an end to it that spring…
Fast forward to now, and the guitar suddenly appeared all put together on John’s instagram and now it’s here. And I love it! A great, small body offset that has gotten a lot of use with my band.
